Paula Blackwell is an Encaustic Artist. Her main body of work is landscapes, which sometimes venture into abstracts. Blackwell says that she likes to create calm and serene artworks through color and light. Each layer of an encaustic painting is a visual record of her process and her life and how, despite one’s best efforts, it is sometimes subject to forces beyond one’s control. The ability of encaustics is to luminate and obscure. It creates mystery and depth, allowing the viewer to linger and reflect.
