The Mississippi Museum of Art recently acquired a painting by Carolyn Busenlener for it’s permanent collection. The artists’ paintings were exhibited in the Mississippi Invitational ’14 at the Museum in Jackson. Busenlener also was awarded the Jane Crater Hiatt Fellowship, to be used for travel to benefit her art. The artist exhibits with Brown’s Fine Art Gallery in Jackson, Hillyer House in Ocean Springs, Reinike Gallery in Atlanta, and presently at Tripolo Gallery in Covington, LA.
Carolyn lives & paints in Pearlington, Mississippi. Using a personal language of form and gesture, she makes intuitive layered abstracts. Her work is inspired by her life’s experiences and the shapes and textures she finds in nature surrounding her studio.
After graduating from Tulane University with a B.F.A. and a major in painting, the artist attended numerous workshops around the United States and in Europe.
Busenlener’s paintings can be found in a number of public and corporate collections besides the Mississippi Museum of Art, including the Ochsner Primary Care and Wellness Center in New Orleans . She has won several awards at juried shows, including at St Tammany Art Association Juried Summer Show and Ocean Springs Art Association Exhibit.
